from an interview: I mentioned that I decided to leave public accounting so I'd have time for my family, including my high school aged brother. HR person: "are you the primary caretaker of your brother?" mind, this same company decided to wait until my 2nd round to tell me I'd be working west coast hours in eastern time zone, dealing with significant accounting deficiencies from a history of understaffing, and dealing with "tax complications". also, same HR person: "this is not related to the interview, it's just for my curiosity! but you're so good at english, how long have you lived here?"

When they went from supporting me when my own management didn’t when I refused to work with a sexist pig of a coworker, to calling me in trying to put me on a PiP for that exact reason seemingly overnight despite none of the steps to improve the dynamic being taken by him and his management.

When one of my coworkers sexually harassed me and they told me to just stay away from him, so he tried to get me fired and they put me on a PIP, and when he threatened to 💀 me they told me I was making too big of a deal about it and they were “just words”. They didn’t take it seriously until he threatened to 💀 himself because I “wouldn’t be his friend”. It took another year before he was let go, due to “performance issues”. This went on for six years.

I had a two year old and was interviewing with a (female) manager for a promotion. She told me that she felt the demands of the job were such that it wouldn’t be suitable for someone with children as young as mine. When I asked her what age my child would need to be she said 10 or so. She was going to derail my career by 8 YEARS. Went to HR and they told me she probably didn’t mean it the way it sounded. Stunning. As an aside: I was promoted into a different department.

Retro Stuff :
The garage attendant was seriously harassing me ans others. They took him out for "training" but put him right back on the job. My bf had to show up with a baseball bat one morning and give the guy more training.

I followed all the steps reporting harassment that was happening to me. They told me that I needed “to do better” because “if you look for the bad all you will see is the bad.” And then they promoted the person doing it 🧐
