@ladymisskay_: Wherever you live, you and your community deserve to be warned and prepared for extreme weather events, and to receive aid after they hit. It is our government’s duty to protect us no matter our zip code or voting record.
got out of there after Abbott told us to just "wait until it's warm" when the big freeze happened.

the reason why this flooding was so late to be notified is actually really interesting from a hydrological standpoint too. Storm coming from southwest but the usgs guages are only north east of campsite. mix that with shallow soil to bedrock and the eddys caused from the rivers meeting can’t imagine being a 12 year old trying to walk through that at night.

My student chose his major (public health) over this!! The flooding carried a lot of bacteria that caused a bunch of respiratory illnesses. He grew up in Texas, and when he found out that the reason he had asthma as a kid was from all the oil rigs, he just kept researching and one thing led to another, and now he did a full turnaround for what he wants to do with his life

Just moved to Texas from a blue state and the communities here are so warm and vibrant. Nothing like what they portray in politics

And it’s barely been televised.. I mean I definitely saw a couple videos WHILE it was happening but other than that there isn’t a large “need” for support

Puerto Rico received little to no aid after their devastating hurricane a few years ago, despite being part of our economy and having no sovereignty. the neighborhoods are resorts and server centers now .

St. Louis had an EF3 tornado come through 5/16. Blue city in a red state. People are still attempting to rebuild. FOUR MONTHS LATER.

It would've been prevented if we were able to track flash floods with the national weather service. If it wasn't defunded

My family and I were in the flood, we live 7 miles from Camp Mystic. We were on our roof. We are still trying to rebuild and people are still displaced. We were failed by the leadership here. Just a photo op is all we were.

Crazy to think that I, as someone who wants enhanced emergency services and funding, care more about rural republican voters than actual elected republicans.
