Thanksgiving Side Series Part ll: Green Bean Casserole! Ingredients: Fresh Green Beans - 2lbs Onion - 1 Mushrooms - 10oz Bacon - 1/2lb Butter - 4tbsp Salt  Pepper Italian Seasoning  Worcestershire  Flour - 4tbsp Chicken Broth - 1c Half & Half - 1 pint Parmesan - 1/2c Lemon Juice Crispy Fried Onions - 12oz Directions: 1. Start by blanching the green beans. Add the fresh green beans to a pot of boiling water. Boil for 3-5mins until softened. Remove and place in a bowl of ice water to stop cooking. Set aside.  2. Add half a pack of diced bacon to a pot and render on medium low heat until starting to get crispy.  3. While the bacon renders dice one onion and slice the mushrooms.  4. Remove the bacon and add in the butter to the pot. Cooking for 3-5mins and then add in the mushrooms. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning and a couple splashes of Worcestershire sauce.  5. Cook for 8-10mins on medium until the mushrooms are softened and release some of their liquid. Add in the flour a little bit at a time making sure to mix and cook out the raw flour.  6. Pour in 1c of chicken broth a little at a time mixing constantly. Once all the broth is mixed in add the half & half a little at a time as well.  7. Pour in some shredded parm and give it a taste to adjust your seasoning. I ended up adding a pinch of everything, but as always it’s to your taste. Finish with a light squeeze of lemon juice.  8. Pour the mushroom soup over the green beans in tray and mix in about half a 6oz container of crispy fried onions. Top the casserole with the rest of the onions and your crispy bacon pieces.  9. Bake at 350 for 30-40mins until the onions are nice and crispy. Allow to set for 10mins after taking out of the oven before serving.
