In a world that looks before it listens, a womanās mind is too often asked to wait behind her appearance.

I think you won when you chose yourself since the beginning. Choosing that authenticity no matter the feedback you received. I always feared taking on subjects like poetry or being perceived as an artist or nerdy simply because of the pressure that position seemed to entail. I never even stepped into it bc of how I thought I would be received. You embodied it and I hope youāre proud. We have pushed the feminine and masculine far out of balance, but I think itās minds like yours and conversations like this that will bring the balance back!

Itās for sure a lot more common for women. But Iāve experienced a lot of what you experienced as a man. The fact that at 22 Iām still growing into my appereance and getting a bit more attention is still foreign to me, when in school I was always called ugly and weird, and now the things I do arenāt āweirdā.

I kinda get it, but also if Iām misunderstanding what you said, Iām sorry. I also felt weird and never taken seriously because of how I looked and stuff like my speech impediment so now itās in the back the my mind that when I speak up more now, I canāt tell if theyāre actually taking me seriously or just finding it entertaining. Iāve also felt like that underlying feeling of āothernessā in group settings is still stuck at least for me because we learn it so young. Also I donāt mean to diminish any of what youāre feeling, but I want you to know I always admired you in school because of how smart, honest, and awesome you were and are. In school, It made me want to learn and grow more as a person. Itās really cool seeing you on here and talk philosophy.

Well men are seen more as philosophers or gratified for it is because a manās life is much more different to a womenās . A manās life is a journey of overcoming challenge from all angles and appreciating oneās self while not falling apart . Women are brave and expressive which comes naturally but also a womenās life challenges are significantly different because of the metrics of society . Each person has their own equity but doesnāt stand on equal terms because as a whole the experience is different .( donāt respond if you havenāt understood this. ) most people stay conformed to society and I Iām still unraveling from this programming but you will know if peopleās true interest through consistency of their actions

yep the veil of shame is so true. for being someone youāve always been. shame when youāre younger because no one likes you. and shame when youāre older because now they like you but sometimes for the wrong reasons

No literally Iāve always been quiet and introverted, weird and awkward and Iāve always been this way yet itās like the second I got hot Iām mysterious and cool now Iām a āgood kind of weirdā which is just a way to admit Iām funny. I majored in media production and sociology did a lot of journalism and photography. People love that, are always super impressive with what Iām doing but if I was ugly Iād be labeled as a weirdo with a camera and I probably wouldnāt be able to pursue journalism bc no one gives women they deem unattractive time

I've been thinking a lot about this very topic and you are 1000% right. It's because beauty and attraction is on a certain level an involuntary response, so it seems like truth or objective. And because we live in a society that INHERENTLY doesn't teach about the internal human experience and it's supremacy of value(Ie: who you are on the inside matters more than you look on the outside), we have no need for a self reflective society. Because it would utterly destroy the foundational beliefs that underlie the capitalistic system.
On top of all of that if EVERYTHING of value is external to yourself, then the only way people can be seen as value or having it is if they fulfill a desire or want of yourself. It's the very beliefs that allow homelessness to be what it is and wars in Iraq a gcides in places like Gaza to go unnoticed. A human doesn't have inherent value, value is only determined by the public perception and the "value" they can potentially add to the experience of other individuals. This is also largely due to the fact we have a culture entirely based on celebrity worship that to actually evaluate the full effects it has on our system of rationalization is like asking a fish hows the water. But I will say overall you are spot on. It's a very unfair system you are living in and the mental strength needed to truly master yourself is much harder than it is for a man because you have so much institutional deconstructions you first gave to understand before you can even full come into your own as a person. With that said I can tell you have done a massive amount of work on this and are doing fantastic job. So from one weird person to another it's worth the journey, because your ability to learn and grow is built upon a foundation that YOU ALONE have built for yourself. So the ability to find the truth is going to be vastly easier for you because you dont rely upon the cultural "truths" everyone else uses to see and understand reality.

yeah i relate to this. iām eighteen now, not that iāve gotten prettier or anything like that but itās true that a whole category of things that i used to be passionate about when i was younger and that i still love now are now perceived differently and that reflects on me as a person and as a young woman. i was a weird kid obsessed with books, writing and ānerdyā stuff, and when i was younger that made me āweirdā and somehow alienated from other people my age. now that everything has become a race to media consumption and girls who read and write fit into that fetishized aspect of society, all of the sudden thatās cool and admirable. idk if it makes sense but your video resonated with me!
