@philosophyminis: You never know if somebody loves you. We each love, and hate, and hurt, and yearn in our own unique ways, and we can never cross the cranial divide to check what somebody means when they use those words. Your love might be ten times greater than theirs. It might be ten times smaller. It might be something else entirely. This is something that Irvin Yalom refers to as 'existential isolationism.' Existential isolationism is a psychotherapeutic re-examination of a very old philosophical problem known as qualia. Qualia are all those subjective and private feelings that you, and only you, will experience. The taste of mango, the warmth of a shower, and the love you feel for another are all your own private experiences. Existential isolationism comes in two forms. The first is a realisation that you will never be able to see the world with another's eyes. You will only ever have your small, one-person vantage point on the universe, and that can feel depressingly inadequate. The second form is the nagging doubt that we have, that other people are not feeling the same thing as we are. We have to trust that when somebody says things like 'I love you,' that those words reflect an inner life mostly identical to our own, but there is no way of checking. And when it comes to love and life, it can feel dangerous to trust something so important. So, do you feel existential isolationism? Do you feel sad that you are trapped only in your head? Or are you okay in trusting that others feel the same way as you?

i saw this girl post a video on here once, saying when people said "i miss u" she assumed they were lying because she never missed anyone, and when she said it she was lying and thought everybody else was saying it for the sake of it too - ive never been the same since

I think you don't need to know exactly how they feel like "feel" their feelings. You can tell if it's genuine and matching your feelings by their actions, behavior, attitude towards you. Trust if backed by actions is more magic than knowing it all.

Love is a biological illusion , it’s a cocktail of brain chemistry (dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin) … that’s all .

The most reliable way to know is to check if their actions line up. Simple as that.

Don't we inherit or at least partially do our parents way of loving? By repetition since a young age

But the fact that its common to all makes it just an inextricable part of life, maybe the divide is more than just cranial.

We are a unique group of atoms having unique meetings with anothers groups of atoms, changing us in a unique ways, giving us experience, touching us, modeling us, of course there is no way to have the same feeling about something.

I am totatokay with being "trapped" in my own head. That is already overwhelming some days, imagine going into other people's heads! I will stick to empathy and sympathy coupled with emotional intelligence to understand others, thank you.

Perhaps- if we embrace the expansiveness of our heads- hearts- souls - we will experience not being- trapped- and then we may not have an obsession to compare- our volumes of our experiences- 💝🌸
