@middleeasteye: Some of the UK’s biggest stars, including Benedict Cumberbatch, Florence Pugh, Paloma Faith and Bastille, took to the stage at London’s OVO Wembley last night for Together For Palestine. Speaking exclusively to MEE, actress and activist Jameela Jamil highlighted the backlash faced by those supporting Palestine, saying “even if it costs you an award or paycheck, that’s okay because it doesn’t cost you your humanity.” Organiser Khaled Abdalla further told us how powerful it was to hear the audience erupt for both the artists and UN rapporteur Francesca Albanese. Bringing together artists, activists and thousands of supporters under one roof, the concert aimed to highlight the power of music in driving change. A similar concert was held at Wembley Stadium in 1988 to call for Nelson Mandela’s release from prison, a landmark moment that demonstrated how music can galvanise support and solidarity.
