He’s not wrong tho. The ones bitching are trying to use a 1080 and 2060. Or the 5090 max 4k no DLSS gang “only getting 80-90 fps” native. Notice how there is still over a 1/4 million players daily? On steam alone?

It used to be less acceptable for AAA to be as glitchy as it is now but accepted for indies to release or pre release a glitchy game cause they’re indie and they needed funds… this worked, then capitalism made AAA say why bother if indie can do it so can we

Even aside from Mr. Pitchfork's flagrantly ignorant remarks, the whole sentiment of "oh the players will understand" is also completely wrong. Big AAA games do launch with lots of bugs all the time, and SOMETIMES things smooth out later. That does NOT mean that the players are OK with it, but it only happens because we keep buying them, even knowing they're gonna be that way. But we only keep buying them because we know that if we don't, these greedy executives will always see it as "oh I guess the players just don't want this kind of thing anymore" instead of saying "oh maybe we made a mistake". If we don't buy the games we want to see succeed, we run the risk of losing them forever, but if we keep buying them in poorly-optimized states, it perpetuates a bad stigma against the industry that is entirely the fault of greed and an inability to understand the community that surrounds them.

Something i’ve been pointing out for people lately, is that even big companies, have dedicated rigs to playtesting their games. Even if it’s 100’s, it doesn’t compare to the potential MILLIONS of different setups, specs, and parts of someone else’s pc. Yes it was unoptimized and needed some patches, but the best, most efficient way to do that is with input from the users on their unique setups. This lets devs find issues that slipped through the cracks. And those who compare it to silksong, keep in mind that one was made in unreal engine 5 with an extremely large scale and complexity, and comparing the two is like comparing a steak and a beef wellington. Both are delicious, but one has a lot more components that can go wrong. Expecting a perfect game on release is a bit ridiculous when you want games of this scale and quality lest you wanna wait 10-20 years, which news flash, leads to new tech being out for so long that if the game doesn’t release, it’ll be yesterdays news and everyone will trash on it
