the poets were never the same after what happened. the ink in the signatures that they scribbled onto that paper lashed deep into the crevasses of life’s fate. charlie came to be expelled, fading from the monochrome picture of them all, the wilting paper crumbling to ashes. meeks continued to learn, eventually deciding to go to the army, for he would do it for neil- for justice. todd’s wings buried him under, the oblong plaque of neil’s grave carving itself into his essence. the boy spent hours sobbing by the lake where his lover was buried hoping that across the divide, neil was there with him, holding him in his arms. pitts became louder, for all of them since they couldn’t speak for themselves anymore. knox was unable to love anymore, not after the way neil loved them, acting and everything around him. mr keating went back to england, believing that everything was his fault. what is grief if not love persevering?
