Take a look at a p trap for a lav. The long straight side goes to the drain… same thing with a PVC trap. Common sense folks. This was installed wrong straight side should have been on the drain. Not the trap 90 🤣

as a master plumber the only thing I'd have done different is use a pressure coupling vs a dwv coupling but thats a personal choice and yes I use dwv on everything else I just like the deeper hub on pressure couplings lol
