I've had to be the caregiver for my father. It's was hard. I literally moved back from LA to help take care of him and I guess for me what hurt even more was, his sickness was kept from me, so only got to be a caregiver for like a month before he passed. it's probably one of the hardest things I ever did in my life. But the way that I cope with it is that I keep his memory of joy and happiness and the things I learned as a child in me. And I do things that I think that he would be very proud of to see me do.

I could speak on this at length. During the Covid pandemic, my ex had stage 3 esophageal cancer and couldn’t eat or drink for 2 years. I was his caregiver for 2 years while trying to cope with the pandemic as a theatre teacher and getting my struggling kids through highschool. As soon as he was in remission he started drinking heavily again. We divorced soon after that.i have a lot of trauma I am trying to work through. I am not sure I will ever trust a man again. Remember to care for yourself first. I did not heed that advice when it was given.
