Too much soap, not enough dye, and you MUST use the Rit dye color fixative. If you use the fixactive as part of your dying process, you won’t ever have to dye your jeans again.

When dying clothes. Especially natural fibers like denim. It’s better to soak them in water first before dying. that way the fiber is swollen and soft and the dye can penetrate deeper.

i just have a quick thought/question. so every black pair of jeans i buy i hate them. due to how they fit. long long long story as to why but thats not the point to this… so would it be a bad idea to dye my blue pair to black because my blue jeans i consistently i LOVE and i would love it even better if i had black ones. can i do that or is that a terrible idea? help me

It also helps to use boiling water, 2 bottles of dye and not so much water next time. use just enough water to cover what you're dying.
