I've worked in places where there are no meetings like this and it just creates silos, even animosity between teams and it's down to lack of communication, email is no substitute for face to face. However, it's the fault of the manager if the meetings are ineffective.

ha ha ha. this was what HSBC did to us in the 90s. sent us to Birmingham from London for a 2 day course that had absolutely nothing related to the work we did! teaching us how to answer telephones in the correct manner when we drove fork lift trucks 🤣🤣🤣
