@geodudex: World War II was devastating for much of Asia, as it became one of the main battlegrounds of the conflict outside Europe. Japan’s imperial expansion brought brutal occupation to China, Korea, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific islands, leading to massacres, famine, forced labor, and immense civilian suffering. China alone lost tens of millions through war and famine, while Korea endured forced labor and “comfort women” exploitation. Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines, Burma, Malaya, and Indonesia were ravaged by Japanese control and Allied counterattacks, with infrastructure and economies left in ruins. India, though not invaded, was heavily drawn into the war effort, suffering famine and political upheaval. The war also marked the decline of European colonial powers in Asia, paving the way for independence movements across the continent.
