I own a ton of kimonos and I’ve worn them long before they were ever in style. I’m talking 40 years ago. I’ve been known to pin my kimonos to a tube top to keep it from sliding off. Especially the silky ones.

Have the tailor open the jacket up in between the liner and the outer fabric tuck the ties in so you don’t lose the fabric piece. Same thing with your pants don’t let them actually cut any excess fabric off so if you ever choose to sell it, the chance the pants can be reverted back to the original size. You don’t want to depreciate the value of the item.
