My parents are so old school. Me and my fiancé wanted to do a small intimate wedding and they were against it. We would rather save that money for investments, going on trips, etc.

I think the engagement should be at least a year since we can’t live with each other prior to getting married there needs to be time for things to happen to see how each party reacts and gets through it whether that be an argument, financial issues etc..

I’m engaged, it will be a year and some months when we plan to have walimah the families make it hard 😣.. it’s all in the end for the sake of Allah but it’s not easy these days especially when not within community unfortunately too.
