I think you're missing some points here. You can evolve or select for multiple traits & behaviors simultaneously. Thieves only subsist if most don't steal, but produce instead. But it's still advantageous for them.

this conflates an existence claim with a universal claim when people say that cooperation is rewarded, they mean that there are cases in which it is rewarded but he incorrectly takes it to mean that in all cases it is rewarded and thus a lack of cooperation is more prevalent than it ought to be

I think religion is an excellent vehicle for spreading a logical moral code to the masses and Christianity is the most effective at creating a moral narritive and holding people accountable.

this is quite the interesting argument. if I was and evil being, I would want to shroud my motives and identity as best as possible. I would want my ends to appear insignificant or even forgotten entirely. I would want the strongest and most basic emotional reactions from unknowing people I see merely as tools in service of my goals.

I think the short answer to this problem is culture. It works perfectly fine to have big ideological differences, so long as they aren’t so big they don’t destroy an overarching culture, and the desire to improve things is decidedly good for the species. Also I feel as though you underestimate how much of the left isn’t part of that hivemind, I’m sure you’re aware it exists just as well on the fox news consuming geriatric minority hating old white men, but people who put honest thought into their views the same way you do exist in about the same density over here as over on your side. In fact thats why I follow you, I think opposition on my moral compass that is well thought out is very important to keep me grounded, and not falling into that deep end that again absolutely exists on both sides

My theory to your question is while yes we are genetically predisposed to want to work in communities, their is other things that can take priority. Our brains prioritize negative stimuli such as fear, hate, and anger as a survival mechanism. They literally bypass the logic area in your brain. This is because evolutionary if you have these emotions you are probably in danger thus the strong reaction. There is also the notion that humans naturally tend to gather in “tribes”. Your tribe takes higher priority than others so you may do things to hurt other tribes to help your own.
