Polar bears are the only species of bears that will pretend to be injured to lure in humans. polar bears are extremley intelligent and extremely dangerous.

I don’t think people in the comments realize how humane this is. It allows the bears to survive. The bears naturally go days to weeks with out food. Would you rather they shoot the bears? This saves human AND bear lives…

This is reprogramming the bears. Humans are easy prey for these bears. This is much more positive & humane than just destroying the bears who come to town.

Starving them is the only way to make them associate that place with hunger and captivity. They can’t feed them of thwy will come to purposely go to jail for free food. He didn’t mention they also get vet care they wouldn’t otherwise receive. This is helping the population not hurting it. It’s already on decline so giving these bears a chance at a longer life

This is no solution. the solution would be for human expansion to stop encroaching on their territory, their food sources will get less and less over the years (because of us) and your solution is to starve them even more and set them out

It works otherwise they wouldn’t do it. The bears are left alone with no human contact food or water in the dark to help disorient the bears and then safely transport far from town. According to the guide that we talked to said about 2% are repeat offenders.

In Churchill it’s illegal to lock your car doors. Incase some needs to get away from a polar.
