@nickribaudo6: #greenscreen I am so fucking confused how this does anything but cause mass panic in families and people just trying to make an honest living. And there’s currently zero clarity from the administration. 12 hours until the deadline! Let’s see how it goes I guess. #news #politics

As a highly skilled tech worker that has been out of work for over a year, I actually applaud this rare beneficial decision from the trump administration

Do you think it will be blocked by courts till it's brought all the way up and the Supreme Court says it's fine?

actual high skill jobs and tech companies are still going to pay for these visas if they genuinely cannot find American workers to do the jobs since they already undercut the wages they pay H1B’s. What this stops is for example companies going out and hiring middle management and low skill workers that should be done by Americans. Actual do research on who is getting H1B’s it not all doctors and software engineers. A lot of it is transportation and hospitality workers that are being paid slaves wages since they are on a visa. Hope this helps!

The fee will be applied to their check as a part of hiring negotiations. I’m sure the company will also include a commitment of employment till the fee is worked off. It’s indentured servitude. That’s why it applies to new recruits

If we use what is happening with TPS as a framework, they most likely will go to court in this and it will be banned, then reinstated, then banned and so in for over six months or so. In the meantime its increasing the panic amongst immigrants from all backgrounds and it’s a mental health component additional to the political and laws

so 20-40 trillion of dollars to fine and penalize this. all of that will come from federal taxes. not to mention, drastically increased unemployment because many employers would move away from American citizens because of the paperwork and red tape.

H1B is the most abused visa type of them all, and evidently, India is the biggest abuser of H1B visa. India ruined it for every country. I have worked in the IT industry for over 36 years, and in that time, I have seen patterns repeat themselves. i have been in a position where i had to train many H1B IT workers. they knew nothing. Year after year, brilliant young Americans — including fresh graduates from some of the best universities in the country (that includes my three children) — come out with degrees, energy, and ambition, only to find themselves struggling to secure jobs in the very fields they trained for. The reason is simple but troubling: companies have leaned too heavily on the H1B visa system, not out of necessity, but because it gave them access to cheaper labor. I am not a big fan of the current administration and have disagreed with many of its policies. However, I strongly support this particular decision President Trump has just signed — requiring employers to pay $100,000 per year for each H1B visa. This measure places real accountability on corporations and forces them to rethink whether they are truly in need of outside talent or simply exploiting a loophole at the expense of American graduates. For too long, capable young professionals here have been sidelined while jobs were outsourced or filled through cheaper hires. By raising the cost of H1B visas, this policy helps level the playing field and pushes companies to prioritize local talent first. It doesn’t eliminate the program, but it ensures it’s used responsibly — for specialized needs, not just as a cost-cutting shortcut.

Companies abuse this visa! Some use it to hire marketing and supply chain managers or accountant or finance. I don’t think that is too specialized
