Whatever you do, don’t watch this movie if you can’t handle emotional pain. Good Boy is a bittersweet film and more of a nightmare, for me as a dog owner. Watching a dog go through so many terrors was tough. While I wish the plot had been a bit more stretched out, it still worked overall. Now, let's talk about Indy (the dog). I’ve seen countless movies featuring dogs, but this is the first time I’ve witnessed one act with such emotion. The way Indy have such an expressive eyes that feels genuinely human, like he’s truly performing. To make things even more impressive, Indy isn’t a professionally trained dog; he’s actually the director’s own pet. Give this dog an award already 🗣 Honestly, the Academy should have a category for animal performances because Indy absolutely deserves recognition. The way he was directed and trained felt so natural, far from the usual “movie dog” performances we often see. I also loved that the story was told from the dog’s point of view, it’s a refreshing and creative choice that made the film stand out.
