It's more of a mental attitude towards it. The city wants to repurpose it to build more apartments and the people of Berlin keep voting no on that. The city is *still* proposing to just build on the edge of it, and everyone's like "NO MEANS NO". It's kind of a community darling at this point. There are also cool open air events and concerts here. 😊

It's too big of a park, a wasteland. They shot down the affordable housing idea, and that was a big mistake because they could've had the best of both worlds. Or make it an Amusement park or a mini central park type place. Anything is better than what it currently is.
