If the church was built in the 6th century it certainly wasn’t catholic but just considered as “Christian”. The difference between catholic & orthodox appeared after the schism of 1094 between the western (with the pope in Rome) and the eastern (with the patriarch in Constantinople) church. :)) - art history major specialised in early Christian art studies here 🥰
