The one that gets me the most is the Memorial Tablet for Vitalis from between 50–150 CE—a small headstone put up by a little girl’s parents that says, ‘To the gods of the shades, her loving parents erect this memorial to their daughter, Vitalis, who lived for eight years, eleven months and three days.’ She’s depicted on the stone as the goddess Diana with a little bow and her hunting dogs, which was a common motif for young girls’ funerary motifs, during a period when children were valued by their families so much.

they did love the daughters thats why they put then in gold rings or silver earrings, a bit of money of your own just in case. gave them cast iron, taught them how to downplay arguments, taught them a lot of repression to keep your image so you won't be cast out. caused a lot of issues but they had only what they had to work with

At its core, the myth of Persephone and Demeter is about a mother fighting tooth and nail to retain access to her daughter after she is married off. 🥲 Mothers were always willing to burn it all down if it meant they got to see their baby girl.
