I’m not really sure why the concept of submission is viewed in such a negative light. I feel like when I finally grew up is when I learned to submit to the appropriate situations around me. I think you gotta look at a context for what submission means to a woman and what love, in a pure sense as scripture defines it, means to a man. I don’t think that the concept is as radical if you approach it from a productive lens. Sure, if a woman wants to be a neurosurgeon, and her mechanic husband says I want you at home in the kitchen, submit to my authority, that’s not good. But that pairing never should’ve happened to begin with. I think that in the right relationship, sacrificing of self and putting the other person first is the context of what is being defined here. It’s a false correlation that submission means exposure to abuse. It certainly can be exposure to abuse, but it is not definitively exposure to abuse.
