i've acknowledged this YEARS ago. i sometimes make a joke about people misspelling my name & i relate, albeit in a minor way, to others with non-white names who have their names misspelled as well. however, i've never equated the two. my name gets misspelled cuz there's 2-3 other common ways of spelling it. it doesn't have anything to do with my name being "uncommon" or "ethnic" in america

2 black brothers, one with English surname one with AFRICAN SURNAME both applied for a same job and were living in London on the same address. English surname got an interview while African surname didn’t. When they saw the one with English surname at the interview, he was told job is filled without giving him an interview 🤔

THIS! In brown communities, Im white passing and get a lot of privileges with that. In white communities, I am most definitely seen as brown and definitely get discriminated against and racially profiled.
