both of my parents are from the south.... you will not find any good soul food in nyc .... if you have friends whose mom's still cook make them your best friend they will feed you.

We have many great cuisines but soul food to me isn’t one of them anymore. Back in the day we had some real decent places. You can check Ma n Pop in Brooklyn on like Lewis and Halsey. I haven’t been there but I hear good things. It’s a hole in the wall type spot. Also, I used to go to RCL Catering quite often but I haven’t been in years; it used to be REAL good.
