I have made it such a point to say things like “oh he’s just takin a minute to vibe check the room” or “oh he’s just gotta warm up a bit” and make it super light hearted. I’ve found it makes adults not harp on it and he gets the space he needs to settle in!

Since you posted that first video, I stopped saying that about my daughter. Last weekend we went to a family member’s home and she greeted everyone with a handshake when we got there and gave everyone a hug when we left. I didn’t even tell her to do any of that!!!
