The “Good Girl” Prison… She’s the one who always says yes, never causes drama, and puts everyone else’s needs first. Sound familiar? The “good girl” archetype seems harmless – even admirable – but it’s actually an exhausting way to live. When your worth depends on being perfect, accommodating, and never disappointing anyone, you end up: ✨ Saying yes when you mean no ✨ Swallowing your truth to keep the peace ✨ Feeling resentful but guilty about feeling resentful ✨ Attracting people who take more than they give ✨ Living for external approval instead of inner alignment Here’s what my clients and I have learned: You can’t please everyone without betraying yourself. And when you betray yourself repeatedly, you lose connection to your own desires, boundaries, and authentic voice. The woman who tries to be everything to everyone ends up being nothing to herself. Your “no” is not mean. Your boundaries are not selfish. Your needs matter just as much as everyone else’s. The right people will love you MORE when you show up authentically – messy edges and all. Recovery from “good girl syndrome” isn’t about becoming selfish. It’s about becoming WHOLE. It’s learning that true kindness sometimes looks like disappointing people. It’s discovering that your authentic self is more valuable than your perfect performance. You weren’t born to be everyone’s favorite person. You were born to be YOU. What would change in your life if you stopped trying to be the “good girl” and started being a REAL girl?
