@moneycoachdave: Should the rich be paying more in taxes? Or, do you think the rich pay their fair share in taxes? Here’s the latest available IRS data showing percentage of income earned vs. percentage of income taxes paid. Based on the data, do you think the rich pay their fair share in taxes or do changes need to be made? #taxes #tax #wealth #PersonalFinance #financialliteracy

Our country has a spending problem NOT a tax problem. I’m rich and have always paid a lot in income taxes at the Fed, state, local, property, etc. happy to do so, but our govt useage of our tax dollars is horrible.

Horribly flawed. 1-adjusted gross income is after all crazy deductions, do straight up income. 2-show taxes paid at each level as a percentage of gross income.

if someone is making 100 million a year how do they put it back into the economy? they cant spend that kind of money so it just goes into buying more assets like homes and raises the cost of those assets for the rest of us.

People don’t get it… the majority of the bottom 50% pays Zero that’s 0 of the income tax. In fact they get money back, and sometimes more than what they put into the system.

Fair share is a misleading term as anyone who makes more than 10million should be taxed at 90 percent on all earnings

Please re do this with the incomes for each of those added to give perspective to that. We know the 1%ers. And also what the representatives and senators pay. 🤔🤔🤔

AGI excludes all the assets the wealthy use to maintain their lifestyle. You can't evaluate whether they are paying their fair share without taking that reality into account

That adjusted income, not gross income. So it’s kind of misleading to most people that read this.

The Dems will never tell the truth about this just like they won’t tell the truth about race in America. It totally defeats their narrative. Without the Rich, this country would fail. Half the country doesn’t pay any tax at all, but Democrats think that’s fair.

You can’t fix the income inequality until you first fix the “effort” inequality.

if you make $1,000,000 a year and pay 10%, that is $100,000. I think that is their fair share

Some earn amazing salaries as well. America used to be a rich country because the wealthy did pay a lot of taxes for the opportunity to be wealthy in America. Remember when Warren Buffett said his secretary paid more than he did? That was two billionaire tax cuts ago. His company also paid their fair share which was in billions and he said if the top 200 companies paid their fair share, no one else would have to pay at all. I’m not saying we don’t pay - but America’s revenue should be good enough for us to redo our infrastructure, that all the agencies are funded, that healthcare is at least affordable, etc. But poor people who have no concept of how much wealth we’re talking about are always so worried about the rich paying taxes. They wring their hands and say they pay enough meanwhile, it’s harder than ever to jump classes in the U.S. and the middle class is drowning. One health crisis away from homelessness.

Nobody should be taxed on income. Have a national sales tax. The richest among us would pay more as they would buy more expensive things. I would pay less as I would buy almost nothing

The real problem is the Democrats who assume that punishing success somehow gonna make the less fortunate more successful. Incentives and opportunity will help more. Punishing wealth is stifling opportunity for everyone else. No one keeps their money in their mattress, they invest it back into the economy. It's a powerful engine, stops working with Democrat overtax policies. When investors seek out investments in other countries because America is no longer profitable, we all lose

the problem is that ultra wealthy don't make 1%. they get paid in stock and bonds. which they then use as collateral on loans and you do not pay tax on loans. what you should do is charges property tax on stock and bounds.
