@auxtas: "The first most important thing is winning souls for Jesus Christ. The second is to make sure you can do the first thing." ~ Charlie Kirk. Soren Kierkegaard said that "Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards." That beautifully captures our Christian life on the importance of remembrance that God said it in the scriptures over 1,200 times. We look back, and we are assured that the future is worth it. As Christians, to remember is to look to what God has done for us in Christ, what Christ says to us, and then to let Him live in us and we in Him. Such remembrance shapes our lives and directs our future. Such a way of life is an act of prayer, which Kierkegaard rightly said, "Prayer does not change God, but it changes him who prays." Such transformation makes us saints, capturing the other words of Kierkegaard, "God creates out of nothing. Wonderful you say. Yes, to be sure, but he does what is still more wonderful: he makes saints out of sinners. We must dare to be saints who dare to find their identity in God, keeping in mind Kierkegaard's words, that "To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily. Not to dare is to lose oneself." Our Christian faith does not belong to the fringes of society. Christ calls us to make disciples of all nations. He sends us out each day, so that in all we do and at every place, we might live our faith, daring to never lose ourselves in God and to help others do the same. That is the most important thing for which we are here.
