Controversial? Maybe. Truthful? yes.  1. You might not immediately click with your baby and that’s ok! It took me a couple of weeks to not be scared of my first when I had her. You go through so much to bring your baby into this world and it might feel like a cruel joke when you don’t immediately have this crazy love/connection with them. Give yourself and baby time. It’ll come.  2. You will miss your old self and the free time. Everyone says they don’t remember what life was like before kids but you DO remember and sometimes really miss it. THAT’S OK. It’s just really important to not stay in that mindset. It’ll keep you from enjoying the present.  3. You’re new person so not feeling like yourself is totally normal since you’re not the old you anymore. Expecting yourself to go back to who you were is trap you need to avoid at all costs.  4. You and your partner will probably feel like ships in the night. It’s just a phase you have to work through together. Set your expectations BEFORE baby comes because once they’re here, you’ll be too busy and too tired to communicate properly and patiently.  5. The first weeks might actually suck. You might be cluster feeding/not sleeping at all. You’re not crazy, all you’re actually doing is nursing and not sleeping. It gets better with time, push through and ask for help.  6. Your hormones will actually be insane. Talk to your partner and share your feelings real time. They legitimately don’t know what you’re feeling unless you spell it out for them.
