@thegeekauthority: #MovieReview #TheHistoryOfSound 🍿🍿 (Out of 5) Very Slow Strange Period Crossed Love Story With Very Little Focus Directed by Oliver Hermanus from a screenplay by Ben Shattuck (based on "The History of Sound" by Ben Shattuck) the fil, at best, is a nice crossed hetero-homo sexual crossed love story that is set in the early 1900’s. The performances are good, but the story drags on way too long and often goes back and forth in time while giving very small clues as to why the exposition was done this way. The film is about two young men during World War I set out to record the lives, voices and music of their American countrymen. Created on wax sound canisters used to play on original photographs made in that century. It’s a love, broken heart and reconciliation story basically about time and feelings of two men learning they love each other. Both Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor are very good in their roles. The relationship begins, develops and eventually separates but it’s their journey that gives the story its true heart. The film’s cinematography by Alexander Dynan is amazingly cinematic and the editing by Chris Wyatt contributes to the film slower pace. Maybe by the cutting down the longer scenes by a minute or two would help the slower pace by 20 minutes or so would help. The trailer look better than the film turned out to be. I think this may work much better on the small screen so I would wait for streaming or Blu-ray on this one. Lorenzo M. @GeekAuthority #TheGeekAuthority https://linktr.ee/thegeekauthority
