a MRE is not 3000 calories. most are 12-1500. its a meal. if it was for a full day it would be a 24hr ration like the FRS. a single FRS replaces 3 MREs. you are correct

Idk where people get 2k and 3k calories from. All MREs are between 1200-1500, there's not a single one even close to 2k

Chris :
A humanitarian daily ration (HDR) provides an average of 2,200 calories per meal, offering a full day's sustenance with a balanced macronutrient profile of 10-13% protein, 27-30% fat, and at least 60% carbohydrates.

there's a few extra calories in the coffee n drink mix in the utensil packet yeah but mres are supposed to be abt 1200 but they're given 2 a day it's def not a traditional meal you shouldn't eat 3 in a 24 hr span
