if only more parents understood the tremendous growth this causes in their young human brains, and the emotional bonds that 10 to 15 minutes of interrupted time per day creates then every loving parent would be carving out these moments with fierce purpose and intensity

I work 5 and sometimes 7 days a week almost 10 hours a day to just live because my daughters dad died but to live I have to work non stop to keep her clothed , fed and be able to live . I hate our government . I get no help . I would get more time with her if I chose to work less and live off the government but then we would have even less as far as making her feel like she can have the best cloths and she can do the things she wants to do . We do have about 30 min a day once in a while

I learned this in parent child interaction therapy… for 10 min a day we were instructed to play with our son on his “level”… draw what he drew, play how he played, mimicking him. No questions(commands, or direction)- not even what color is that- how many is that- just play on his level. His behavior changed. He did a 180. He was so much happier and listened so much better. We both felt more connected to each other.

I’m guilty as a single mom that works all day but definitely will work on this giving her 20 mins of my day before bed 😭 because she needs me 😭💕

Then the kid grows up and moves to another state and barely visits bcuz he/she has a family now and doesn’t call or come see you until you’re almost dead

If you try to do it when your kid grows up, it’s usually too late. It feels awkward and weird.

How sad is it. That it is restricted to 20 minutes a day

Sadly, a parent that spends a lot of time with their child they don't remember it and take it for granted, but the absent parents, they remember that rare moment of time because it's embedded in their brain because it was so rare and obscure.

It’s sounds so simple, just listen.. no commands . Definitely gonna try it. There’s 3 of them under 8. Should it be one on one?

Sweet moments :
It’s very difficult to spend 20 minutes without asking or telling them something. Especially with teenagers as a single parent. Gonna make a conscious effort to just spend time. 💗
