💜 Straightener curls can be so iconic but I know they don’t always turn out the way we want SO if your hair feels snaggy or the curls just fall flat, let me give you a few little secrets that make all the difference. ✨ First, always brush through your hair before you even pick up the straightener. Detangling is everything. If there are knots, the plates will grab and you’ll never get that smooth glide. ✨ Second, I love a heat protectant that has just a little oil in it, like a shine spray or a lightweight serum. It gives slip so the straightener can glide through, but not so much that your hair feels greasy or heavy. If your hair isn’t freshly washed, this step is even more important because it helps refresh the hair and makes the curls come out prettier. ✨ And this one might surprise you but one of the biggest reasons your curls look rough or your straightener feels like it’s pulling is because the tool itself is dirty. I hear people all the time say their hair stinks after they use it or their iron is snagging and nine times out of ten it’s just product build up on the plates. Once your straightener is completely cooled down, wipe it with a rag and a little alcohol.
