As a fellow ag teacher, can you explain how you set this up? How the cow is assembled?

I thought you could just band them as calves and just let them fall off

oh no, please never do it like this. Cut off sack, take each marble, pull until cord snaps, clean cuts can have bleeding, pulling until it snaps get little to no bleeding plus the cord goes back up inside. Done hundreds upon hundreds of calves like that, never lost one yet.

I think this is a great idea! I absolutely understand in some places they don’t have access to ranches to get a “hands on” experience but I will say that some people asking about this if they would reach out to local ranches they would be invited to participate in an actual calf working.

That so cool! But they should have to dig for it and then use all their hands strength to hold onto them 🤣

thanks for sharing this is think some 4 H groups may have something similar if not they should and every AG class should be taught this as animal husbandry is a very important part of farming

Did they also get taught where to stand, in case the bull kicks. Because, it will literally throw you through the barn wall, with a good kick. Good memories Biggy Taylor.

They have schools for that? I learned how to castrate palpate and vacinate the same place I learned how to rope ride and brand when I was a kid.
