This is realistic for one sole purpose. Shigeo never once talked to her oitside of asking her out. She knew his intentions and they were pure, but she just doesn't see him that way. It's obvious in other episodes she's happy for his growth, but that doesn't mean she wants to be his girlfriend.

I like how it shows mob and tsubomi getting closer as friends in the end, and it makes sense that tsubomi didnt return his feelings. Like he barely ever talked to her at all, but she still waited to hear him. And I feel like mob has a better chance with emi now ngl
