at the end of the day, the Will of the Wisp (the folklore creature that the lantern fae (flins) is inspired by) is a creature who’s sole purpose is to lead travelers astray in the forest with shiny things and blue lights and imitating spirits. for flins to not only have a fascination with gems (shiny things) and to be the lantern fae (a blue light-spirit) and his character does not PHYSICALLY lead people astray leaves me to believe that either hoyoverse is missing out on a wonderful opportunity OR flins is not the good, selfless person he makes himself out to be. his teaser further pushes the narrative that beneath his gentle demeanor, he is only and only ever will be a monster. the teaser even ends by further dehumanizing him by referring to him as an ‘it.’ i do not think flins is meant to be a good person and i do believe he will lead the traveler astray further down the line.

fae are usually not friends 😶 I stopped playing genshin so idk the reference (if its celtic or whatnot) but fae are typically tricksters who lead you to your fate, which is usually doomed

lowk I think he's just weird. This trailer had everyone thinking he was going to rob or kill the guy but all he did was escort him to a safe space. That's kinda the point,,, everyone is so unsettled by him, they get nervous with his intimidating presence only to find out he's a gentleman with a noble and kind heart

i like the concept of flins fighting against his instincts, I wish we got character focused quest where he struggles against his origins or has done things he regrets and makes up for it by guiding lost souls...hopefully we'll see more of his history in future updates i love him

just read about this Fae and djin lore from 7 different sources and finally found a conclusion, Imma yap down here, ignore me guys🙏 1. he represents Fae where there's a type that can never lie but never spoke truth directly too. 2. based on the PV, and the article journal I read about ancient greek and other European adaptation of Fae, Fae love to play with human such make them lost in the woods or make them lost track in time without realising 3. "do not take whatever Fae gave you" it's like a contract or marking in many mythology it represents as selling soul or body, other also said that it was a death wish because what's Fae's then it's theirs.

To be fair Flins is very clearly a good guy and a gentleman. He just so happens to also be unsettling because he’s a fae. At least that’s my take. The animals may fear him because he’s a fae.

for faes, everything is transactional. it’s their form of manipulation. in the teaser, Flins might have let the man get the coin, but in exchange, he got a free drink. and while he might’ve escorted the man to safety, it was like he purposely chose the darkest, sketchiest route to lead him down. every form of protection was a rope slowly tying the man down with favors. The fear that Flins purposely instills in the man- he got away lucky. And now, he likely owes him in the future. The words in the photos also imply that he doesn’t mind sharing his story with people if it makes them sympathetic to him- because now they’re willing to do what he asks. Flins even has a dog that he feeds in exchange for bones. When asked if he’s forming a relationship with the dog, Flins simply laughs, and says; “it’s just a hungry dog. nothing more, nothing less.” I’m OBSESSED with his writing so far.

Flins reminds me of Abu Fanus, which roughly translates to 'The one with the lantern'. It's a creature that leads traveler astray in the desert, perhaps they are a variant/cousins of the same creature...
