Wow - I specifically dislike his art bc it’s so white. I had no idea of his stance or that he did that Ruby Bridge painting. History so white -washed and the bravery of people who defy awful norms gets buried 😞 Thanks for this!

I’m Black and have admired Rockwell’s work since I was a kid. His lily white subject matter was always a thorn in my side. This is very refreshing to hear.

So surprising that so many people don’t know about Rockwell’s painting of Ruby Bridges. What’s going to happen when this administration erases even more history about black people, women, Hispanics, and indigenous people? The bridges painting is common knowledge to me because I’m a boomer and lived through it but young people aren’t even going to get that chance.

😎I had the Ruby Bridges print hanging in my office for years. I asked my daughter who worked at an art gallery for something that made a statement and this is what she picked. I was especially proud of it during the Obama years because he had the original hanging in the WH. My grandson now has it.🫶🌈🕺🖤
