our parents used to leave us with the car off windows open to go into Walmart...now I would NEVER but I will leave them to step away from the car we have cars that can be left running while locked for a few steps 🥰

Personally I think it’s fine. I have auto start on my vehicle so I will actually turn my vehicle off lock the doors and then auto start so that air is flowing but the doors are locked. I don’t have a tiny one anymore youngest is 5 then middle is 8 but I have been told by local “STEP” employees that as long as you have eye sight on the vehicle and it doesn’t take longer than a couple minutes.

I think that's totally acceptable, you can see your car and get there quickly, I have done the same thing with my kids but like walked up to the window at Kroger gas station

I have done it myself just a quick grab or hand off of the other kid and it’s fine. Just not for more than a couple minutes.

Mom of 4 kids here. I do this exact same thing with my 3 yr old. I walk down about 2-3 bus lengths but I can see my car. The AC is on, doors locked, and I am right there. It’s okay, momma. 💜

One time I got into a ladies window at Walmart because it was August (in Oklahoma, VERY HOT) and I see an 8 year old boy with VISIBLE sweat on him, he had no idea how long he’d been in there and he was lethargic so I brought him out of the car and into mine where it was cool, gave him water and waited on the cops. There are much worse parents out there, I think you’re doing just fine ❤
