For everyone: Moka pots are usually made of aluminum or stainless steel, and washing them with dishwasher detergents can react with the metal, causing corrosion or leaving metallic residues. Chemically, the detergents are alkaline and harsh, which can alter the flavor compounds in the coffee oils that naturally coat the pot. Biologically these oils actually help protect the metal from oxidation, so removing them completely can make the pot more prone to rust and change the taste of future coffee. You’re welcome
