Love this video! I was a CNA with black ladies as my patients so me being a white lady i absolutely had no idea how take care of their hair. I had recruited help with sone my black colleagues to give me advice on this was best decision i did for them!😍 but gurl vaseline and A&E ointment are cure alls for sooo much my ladies taught me few things😂😜

I think that your son & your mans have different curl types?? I use what you use on his hair for akaeshas hair! But i use like a pomeade for anthyms hair bc it’s more coarse and needs more oil than hers does. Idk if i know what your mans hair looks like as much as i do your sons lol so i could be wrong 🤣

Some black people used to use Vaseline or petroleum base products like blue magic royal crown etc. due to cost and accessibility. We haven’t always had the products selection we now have. “So is that what we using” well years ago for some the answer was yes.

I have 3 mixed kids, and none of them have the same hair type. My 16 yr old uses the Mielle hair products. I use the shea butter leave in conditioner, mousse def, and shine ‘n jam gel for my 9yr old. For my 8yr old carols daughter black vanilla leave in conditioner and the hair & scalp oil, sometimes mousse def when his hair is longer.

My mum used nomal conditioner and left it in, but this was 42 yrs ago lol but my curls were always poppin 😂 I say stick with the leavin as there’s tons of that about now, I’m sure u will get a lot of people talking about chemicals 🙄 my sons dad goes mad at me and my son is 8yrs 😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

We are a multi-racial household as well, and we use a variety of different products in our hair because we have extremely varied textures. I wouldn’t necessarily say that either one of you was right or wrong as really the primary goal of hair care is to protect the hair and both of these products accomplish the goal of trapping moisture in the hair.. it’s hard to really advise on an ideal product for your child’s hair type because the potential texture can be so varied. Ultimately you just wanna have something that prevents the hair from drying out and breaking or tangling . As far as aesthetics go, that’s a personal preference and the product you use is perfectly suitable so I would say neither of you are incorrect

You’re definitely doing it right. I grew up with my mom putting Blue Magic or Vaseline on my hair/scalp. It wasn’t bad, my hair didn’t fall out or anything but it was too heavy for my curls so all she could do was slick it back or braid it, no definition.

Funny story we are also a mixed family and my lovely husband drives me nuts lol bc he uses the curl cream but uses so much he literally makes goth spikes in my sons bang fro lmao 🤣 men will be men lol
