I think it’s more so you have to keep in mind that you are not the intended audience when reviewing a book from a genre you don’t typically read. For example, I don’t like thriller or horror books. Sometimes I’ll read them because everyone is talking about it. And then I don’t like them because I don’t really like the genre. Usually I always give them at least a 3 (as long as the writing is good) because im not the audience in mind. Doesn’t mean I can’t read it
