You need to take the shoes off while driving. Keep some driving shoes or socks in the car. I do that with all my good flats and loafers, it also keeps you from wearing out the heels

I too have a pair of studded ballet flats I love and live in. May I recommend talking to the cobbler about putting some rubber sole on the bottom BEFORE you walk a hole in the sole because that happens fast! Mine did it in a cool blue.
