@tiktokart380: As world leaders meet to discuss action on climate change at Climate Week NYC by @theclimategroup we’re focusing on the artists who are doing the same. Today we honor Instituto Terra (@institutoterraoficial), the nonprofit founded in 1998 by the visionary duo Lélia Wanick Salgado and the late Sebastião Salgado. Known worldwide for his monumental black-and-white photography, Sebastião used art as a tool for bearing witness to humanity and the environment, and Instituto Terra extends that vision into real-world transformation. Based in the Vale do Rio Doce, the organization is dedicated to environmental restoration and sustainable development. What was once heavily degraded land has been carefully reforested, with former cattle pastures now flourishing as part of the revived Atlantic Forest. This work has enabled the return of rich biodiversity—including endangered species—back to the region.
