My childhood wasn’t chaotic and I did this so bad the teacher moved me to the back of the classroom. Do it to fall asleep too.

the good thing is and it calms people down but later in life that movement that extra circulation will ensure that you don't have any foot and leg problems because of that constant movement is an exercise in itself so it's a beautiful thing

Facts 💯 (psychotherapist therapist here 👋🏽) In psychology, the constant movement of the leg or foot is called motor fidgeting and is often an unconscious gesture to release internal tension, stress, anxiety, or agitation. It can indicate excess energy, a state of hyperalertness, or even be a symptom of conditions such as ADHD or ADD or Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), which involves an uncontrollable urge to move to relieve discomfort. The correct interpretation of the movement depends on the context and other body language factors.👍

Lar :
Restless legs syndrome (RLS), also called Willis-Ekbom disease, is a neurological disorder characterized by an irresistible urge to move the legs, often accompanied by unpleasant sensations in the legs such as a crawling or tingling sensation. The symptoms typically occur at rest, especially in the evening and night, and are relieved by movement. The cause is often unknown, but may be due to an imbalance in the brain's dopamine system or a link to iron deficiency. Treatment involves lifestyle changes, and medication may be used in severe cases.

For those people who has essential tremor it can help to keep hands (and other parts) still without shaky tremors. Believe me, I know because I have ET and this is the only way for me to keep others eyes and consentration in somewhere else even if it's annoying someone. Unfortunately people accepts way much better my shaking legs than shaking hands and head.
