full details in caption!! 👇🏼 My friends and I booked through Mama’s Homestay (via WhatsApp +84915121987). You don’t need to book far in advance, we booked just a few days out. There were about 60(ish) people on our tour and we were split into four groups. Jasmine is another popular company that people book through, but they run about 150+ people per tour and we wanted something smaller. With that said, there are many other great tour companies and you can also arrange private tours or DIY the whole thing. I am so glad I opted to go the Easy Rider route and have someone drive me. The road can be quite dangerous and I wanted to be able to sit and enjoy the views of the scenery! I felt very safe the whole time and my driver was awesome. Getting to and from Ha Giang is fairly easy and all was arranged through the hostel. On the night before the start of the loop we took a 9pm VIP sleeper bus ($12) from Hanoi and arrived at Mama’s at about 3am. We had a free night included in the tour booking so we slept on a mattress in a big open room and woke up the next morning to start the loop. At the end of the tour we took an evening sleeper bus back to Hanoi, (also $12) left at about 8pm and arrived in Hanoi at 2am. The weather for us was rainy on the first day, cloudy on the second and cold on the others but the views were still absolutely incredible. I was definitely unprepared for the cold and ended up borrowing some clothes from friends and buying some warmer pants. I would 100% come back and do the whole loop again in sunny weather as it would be a whole new experience.
