Designing and applying makeup on mature skin comes with unique challenges! Here’s my 5 secrets to success.. 🚨1. Focus On Skincare! Make sure you’re selecting hydrating/plumping moisturizers and serums! Layer the products and let them sit so the fine lines and wrinkles melt away! Don’t forget to add a thick layer of lip balm or mask at the beginning of your prep so by the time you get to lips they’re easy to work with!💧 🚨2. Décolletage Love! No one wants a beautiful face and a dry neck/chest. Make sure you’re bringing down your hydrating products all the way onto the clients décolleté before applying any chest glow. Once moisturized I like to add a 30 SPF spray with shimmer! Loose or liquid highlighter on top for an extra glow!✨ 🚨3. Skin Tints or Sheer Foundation! When choosing a foundation, opt for a blend-able formula or sheer down the product. I mix in actual moisturizer or makeup mixer into the foundation. I would avoid any matte finish foundations! 🚨4. Creams Over Powders! Since mature skin runs dry it’s important to stick to products that keep skin glowing. Very quickly and easily the wrong product can turn the look ‘cakey’. Stick to cream shadows, creamy concealers, contour creams, even creamy lipsticks! I love the Bare Minerals Lip Creams- hydrating and long lasting! 🍯 🚨5. Dust Your Setting Powder! Instead of pressing in the powder to set the look I prefer to dust the powder on with a super fluffy brush! I only do this with my mature skin clients. Too much powder can accentuate wrinkles so keeping it minimal here is key. Combine with a staple setting spray and you’re finished! 🚨Bonus Tip🚨 Mature skin clients are my favorites and let me tell you why… They LOVE to be pampered and spoiled!! Take your time and explain what you’re doing if your client is interested in the process! I like to make sure my clients walk away with skin/makeup knowledge and have new tools/info to improve their routines.
