temporary lines mean the material used to scrape the phone is less abrasive thus it leaves a trail of its own on the phone, which can be swept away. permanent lines mean the material used to scrape the phone is more abrasive thus it digs a trail of its path on the phone, which can't be restored with conventional methods. the first one is like using chalk on a board, the other is like "keying" a car.
