The fact that he was shot and killed is a horrible thing. The fact that it was on a university campus is a horrible thing. Gun violence deeply upsets me. HOWEVER….. when it happens to someone who was quite literally saying that gun deaths are worth it to keep 2nd amendment rights? and is also spewing hateful rhetoric about poc and women it’s not something i’m going to be mourning over. Both statements can be true.

There are a lot of things I dislike on Kirk’s beliefs but he did understand how to separate his religious views from the law, for example on gay marriage. I feel like a lot of people take his statements wildly out of context and if you listen to him speak there was a lot of middle ground to be met in, but now he’s both martyred by the right and vilified by the left with no one wanting to engage with eachother and dividing everyone further. Sad you take part in that.
