One week ago today: One of the proudest moments I’ve had in our 10 years here in Savannah. The six members from our first season, who are still with us today, were introduced at the Selection Show and we all received a standing ovation from the sold out crowd at Grayson Stadium. Standing there with @emcole3 @jaredaorton @mariematzinger @pbriody and @berry3621 I got emotional as I realized how far we’ve come over the last 10 years…and to see the response from the crowd and savannah community meant the world to all of us. From arriving in Savannah as a college summer baseball team expected to fail, to selling only a handful of tickets when we started, to having to build our own offices after the ballpark was abandoned with the phone lines cut and internet lines cut and having to make ends meet with no money and very little support in the beginning…to now seeing Grayson Stadium at 100 years old brought back to life and now millions of fans embracing our new game of Banana Ball, this journey has been the reward. It’s been harder than I could ever imagine. Every step of the way there has been challenges. And we’ve been doubted and criticized but we’ve all believed in something bigger than ourselves, and we’ve all come together to pursues this crazy dream. We still have a lot of work to do. And we’ve are still in the first inning. But it’s these moments I’m so grateful to celebrate with the people I love that helped make it happen.
